A Hat for Britta

Britta_Malabrigo_Hat

I knit hats for my sister for Christmas most years. She has quite the collection, and for this year’s hat, I decided to go with something simple. I chose a super soft, semi solid yarn, and a four-round stitch pattern that I’ve been loving lately. The first round is k1, p1, and the third round is p1, k1. The even numbered rounds are plain knit rounds. It’s really easy to memorize and do by touch. I knit the bulk of this hat while at the movie theater watching the latest Hunger Games movies.

The yarn is Malabrigo worsted in the Pearl color. Pearl is an interesting grey/lavender color. A few years ago, Britta went through a bit of a phase with washed-out colors that were almost grey or taupe, and now they always remind me of her. I don’t think she’s quite as obsessed these days, but this color is a nice neutral, and she seemed happy with her hat.

Looks easy least, but the decreases could be tricky if you have not done this type before.

  8. So pretty and you are so lucky to be able to knit in the movie theater. It never works out well for me. I make too many mistakes!
