New Pattern: From A to Z

My monogrammed sweater pattern is finally available! Designing this sweater was a fun challenge because I wanted it to be totally seamless, but I also wanted it to have pockets. It took a little experimenting, but the solution, picking up stitches from the pocket lining as I knit the body, turned out to be easier than I anticipated. My cardigan turned out so cute that I changed my original plan which was to add some kitschy intarsia on the upper back. Instead, I left the back blank and went for a simple duplicate stitch monogram on the shoulder, and this sweater quickly became my favorite neutral sweater in my collection.

The body is knit from the bottom up, and the shoulders are joined using a three needle bind off. Stitches are picked up around the armhole, and they’re worked from the top down using short rows to shape the sleeve cap. For the most part, this sweater is a simple knit that would be great to work on while watching a movie. The most challenging parts are the  intarsia bands on the pockets in the contrast color and the duplicate stitch monogram which is when the sweater is complete.

I knit my sample using Cascade 220 on 4.5 mm needles. The pattern includes instructions for sizes XS-3X and requires between 755 and 1305 yards of worsted weight yarn including the contrast color. The sweater is meant to be worn with 0-2 inches of negative ease, and the finished bust measurements range from 30-54 inches. The pattern is available for $6.50, and you can buy it now or check it out on Ravelry.

  1. Congrats! I really like the design and the small touches of black. Reminds me of collegiate letterman sweaters… and I guess in a way, it is one. ;D

    1. Thanks! That style of sweater was part of my inspiration.

  2. Oh YAY!!! I’ve been anxiously hoping you would release this as a downloadable pattern. It’s so perfect and the monogram is a lovely touch. I can’t wait to knit one up for myself 🙂

  3. LOVE. Ugh, I need to get faster at knitting sweaters, because I neeeeed this one.

  4. Love it! The monogram is such a perfect touch, and I love the contrast button bands, too! I’m glad you turned this one into a pattern; it’s going on my list!

  9. This is such a cute sweater! My friend and I are planning on picking a sweater pattern and having a knit-along. This looks like such a fun project to do.

  10. It is such a flattering sweater, and I ove that it’s completely seamless! Well done, as usual!

  11. I’m so happy !!! I’ve finished my version and I hope you’ll not be furious after me because it’s so “far away” from the original version but I’ve a lot of skeins and not money to buy new one…
Thanks a lot for your work, I’m very in love with this model so easy to knit

Hi Andi! I’m so excited to knit this sweater. I’ve knit a Myrna twice and I love Miette! I’m stuck on the pockets on A to Z though. I’m not a fan of KFB, and I may be getting hung up on that technique. My stitch count is off no matter how many times I’ve tried. Do you have any suggestions?

    1. If you’re having a hard time with a particular technique and that’s messing with your stitch pattern, you likely need to get help in person. Call around to local yarn stores and see if any offer help hours.
