My new capelet pattern Lavinia is out today! Prior to this design, I wasn’t entirely sold on capelets, but I wanted to make something that was a little dressier yet still cozy. I love the elegance of a good capelet, but I wasn’t sure what one would be like to wear. I have to say I’m converted now. Wearing Lavinia is a bit like wearing a blanket out but managing to look fabulous at the same time. It’s just so beautiful and cuddly to wear, and it’s the perfect layer for late summer and early fall when things start cooling down.
Both the body and the collar are knit separately from the bottom up, and then they’re joined together with a 3-needle bind-off. It’s super simple and completely seamless. My version was knit using Sincere Sheep Luminous on 4.5 mm needles. The drape from the silk content and larger needle size allow the capelet to hang nicely. The pattern includes three different sizes, and you can get it for $6.50. Check out Lavinia in the Untangling Knots shop or on Ravelry.
Yay! I was so excited for this one-I think I might have just the yarn for it in stash 🙂
This is gorgeous, and I love it in the simple gray. I think I might need one for my closet, too!
Ooer pretty!
Hooray! Have been waiting for this since your first little sneak peek. Absolutely love it.
You are so productive and always creative and beautiful! What an inspiration!
What did you end up using as a fastener?

I bought a clasp at the craft store.
The capelet is lovely and so versatile.
