A Hat For Me!

I finished my winter hat and wore it for the first time today. I’m in love with it! The hat fits perfectly. I can twist my hair up and tuck it inside, and the hat will still keep my ears covered. I can also pop it on over my hair like I have it in these pictures, and it stays put. I’m very please with it.

The darker grey is Plymouth Yarns Baby Alpaca Brush. Inside the hat are wonderfully soft floats that make the hat delightfully cozy. The hat keeps its shape better than my 100% alpaca hat thanks to the light grey wool. It’s just Cascade 220, but the shade of grey complements the color of the alpaca yarn nicely.

I’m really happy with the way this project turned out. The only hang up I had was that my yarn got tangled up in my purse while I was watching Django Unchained and trying to knit at the same time. You know a project went smoothly when your only complaint is a few yarn tangles!

  1. Gorgeous! Is it just any slouchy beret pattern with floats added. And clever to use float instead of thrums. THey take so much time to prepare.

    1. Exactly! Thrums helped inspire the floats. I like the idea of thrums, but they’re too warm and bulky for Seattle weather.

  2. Knitting and watching a movie, sounds like me! Great hat!

  3. LOvely your hat!!!

  4. Cute! Baby Alpaca floats sounds like a dream!

  5. It is beautiful! Such a perfect look for you.
