Myrna Techniques and Resources

I’m also done with my sweater body, and that will mean that it’s time to bind off soon. I like to use a basic chain bind off where you work two stitches and pass the previous stitch over to bind off. With my knitting style, I don’t have trouble getting this BO to be stretchy enough for me, but I always recommend practicing on a swatch first if you’re not sure if it’s the right choice for you. If you’re curious about other stretchy bind off techniques, I reviewed a selection of them in a mini series of stretchy BOs.

With the body of my sweater done, it will be time to knit the sleeves and button bands. Before we get into that, here are some other tutorials, tips, and technique reviews I’ve already written that might come in handy:

  4. Hi, Andi! Will you be showing the short rows for the sleeves in greater detail? I have done short rows before but these are giving me fits. Thanks so much!

    1. I hadn’t really planned on it because I’m not sure what else there is to cover. Could you be more specific about what you need help with?

      1. Sure! When you say to continue working short rows as established, where does that start on Row 1? With the first K3 or the second K34?

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi Andi, realise I’m very late in starting this knit but have decided to knit along with you all, though obviously not in the ‘competition’ element. Have just ordered my yarn and bought the pattern, now can’t wait for it to arrive and get started. I’m in the middle of very stressful situation right now, selling house and moving to Aus all at the same time, yikes, so feel in great need of some calming knitting to take my mind off things a bit. This lovely project is just what I need
and I love the idea of doing it with others across the pond. Thanks so much for coming up with the idea and all the help!

    Hi andi,

I’ve bound off in basic chain but now I’m wondering if I should of bound of using ribbed chain bind off? I’ve just knitted the bind off. Please could you advise If I need to go back and correct my self?

    Thank you

    Elle

    1. You can use whatever BO you like best. Knit a few swatches with different BOs if you aren’t sure which is the ideal one for you.
