Chuck – A New Sweater Pattern

Can you believe that I almost forgot about this? I opened my date book to September for the first time last week, and I saw that I penciled in releasing this pattern. Things have been busy, and can you imagine how long it would take me to publish this if I hadn’t written myself a reminder?

I’m happy to present Chuck to you, just in time for the weather to start cooling down. I’m really looking forward to wearing mine because I finished knitting it right before the start of spring so I only have worn it a handful of times. It looks great over a dress, but it also works well layered over a button down.

I struggled to come up with a good name for this pattern, and I didn’t even figure it out until I was done with the actual sweater. I was working on a different project while watching Pushing Daisies when the name hit me. The sweater reminded me of Chuck, so I named it after her. I’m not sure that people will immediately pick up on that, and they might not understand why a cutesy sweater is named Chuck, but I thought it was perfect.

And now for the boring stuff! The sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down. First you knit the top of the back, then you pick up stitches for the shoulders and eventually everything is joined together and knit in the round. The sleeves are picked up and shaped using short rows. It comes in sizes from XS to 3X, and I’m wearing size M with 2-3 inches of negative ease. I knit mine using Cascade 220 on 5 mm needles. The pattern is $6.50, and you can buy it now or check it out on Ravelry.
