My WIP

It’s been awhile since I last shared this sweater. I’ve made a lot of progress on it that didn’t make it to the blog. I finished the body and knit the neckband before I started finals, but never found any time during day light hours to snap some pictures.

I just started the sleeves. I’m using my usual seamless set in sleeve method. I hate picking up stitches, but I love working the short rows. They go by so quickly and are kind of addictive to knit.

I’m really happy with how the back is looking. The scallops look just like I hoped they would. I can’t wait to get this one done so I can wear it. The sweater is a nice weight for summer nights.

I love your sweater Andi ~ the scallops are really cute! Are you going to make a pattern of this knit? ‘Coz I’d love to make a cropped cardigan with that gorgeous yoke detail!

I was also wondering if you had a tutorial on how to do set in sleeves? I had a look around your blog, but I couldn’t find anywhere that seemed to mention it. I would really like to learn how to do that – it looks like a useful trick to know.

    1. I haven’t written anything about set in sleeves yet. I can get them to work nicely for a specific design, but I haven’t perfected my technique enough to make any generalizations. The book Custom Knits is full of useful information on them if you can get a hold of a copy.

  2. I’m knitting a summer cardigan in those colors right now too! The scallops are a really nice little detail. Can’t wait to see it when it’s finished.

  3. That is looking really good and will be stunning when it is finished.

  9. I really, really like the scallops, especially with the bright red against the lighter blue. That is going to be so cute.

  10. I love it! Wow, Andi. It is coming along so nicely. It fits well, and I just love the scallops!

  11. This is looking great! I love how simple yet gorgeous the detailing is where the two colors meet. Can’t wait to see it finished!
