Recommend Some Blogs to Me!

DSC_0207

I have a small favor to ask of you. I’m a voracious blog reader and I’ve been finishing up my blog feed with blog reading time to spare. Can you recommend some blogs that you like? I’m open to anything. Feel free to plug yourself if you’re not sure if I’ve seen your blog.

I also have a question for my UK readers. If you buy yarn online, where do you buy it from? I need yarn, but I’ve been too busy to go take a trip to the not-so-local yarn store.

  1. I like Mooncalf’s blog, but I’ve seen you comment there already :oP

Some of the other blogs I follow are:
    A Girl in Winter http://agirlinwinter.wordpress.com/
    Crafty Cripple: http://craftycripple.blogspot.com/
Fiolinn and the Handy Gnomes: http://craftycripple.blogspot.com/ (though she’s busy having a baby tomorrow, hehe)
    Funky Flower: http://funkyflower.wordpress.com/
    Knitspot: http://knitspot.com/
    Minniemoll: http://minniemoll.wordpress.com/
    Monstermรธnster: http://meretesmonstermonster.blogspot.com/
Mr Barlow’s Blog (to mix up subject matter a bit): http://mrbarlow.wordpress.com/
    Neoknits: http://www.neoknits.com/
    Saff’s Daily Dribble: http://saffsblog.blogspot.com/
    Twisted Knitter: http://www.twistedknitter.prettyposies.com/wp

Hmm, goodness knows how you’ll ever see this if it gets caught in your spam trap!

As for where to buy – if you visit any of the larger cities, John Lewis is always worth a look, but locally in Lancaster there’s really only the market, which is mostly acrylic, though they have stocked a few new yarns in the last months. Online I like Modern Knitting, Get Knitted (if you join the Get Knitted group on Rav there’s a 10% off code for group members, I think) and Kemps is always worth checking for new deliveries as they can have some real bargains. I’d strongly advise to STAY AWAY from Angel yarns (if they are still trading) – just, well, search the term on the Rritish Knitters group on Rav if you want more details of that disaster).

  8. Hiya,

I highly recommend Drops/ Scandinavian Knitting Design for price, quality and speed of delivery.
A while ago, I compiled lists of UK: indie dyers, yarn vendors and fabric vendors with links to their websites. These can all be found on the sidebar of my blog (scroll waaaaay down). This is by no means everything but is a good a place as any to start.

    good luck.

  12. Well first off I need to recommend a few hand dyers in Scotland whose yarn I love!

    http://www.theyarnyard.co.uk
    http://www.oldmaidenaunt.com

  13. Thought i would plug myself ;o)

I have been reading yours for a few weeks now, i love reading blogs it is part of my everyday life!

Good post to i will be having a look through the links people have put and come back and add any that have not been suggested.

Also one online place is first4yarns.co.uk, there is another one that has very reasonably priced quality yarns, but i would have to look it up and get back to you.

  14. I’m so excited to check out all these great blogs people have mentioned!

I literally started blogging three weeks ago, so it would take you maybe ten minutes to read all of my posts. ๐Ÿ˜€ But I wanted to leave you a note that I linked to your blog on my latest post. I’m just learning how to knit, and your Dapper pattern was the first pattern I used!

    Thanks for the great work!

  15. I think everyone has suggested all the blogs I read, but for knitting supplies in the UK, if you want good quality I advise Pure Purl who have a monthly offer every month, Loop’s online shop, Get Knitted, Stash Fine Yarns and First 4 yarns. For bargains and not such great quality there is MCA Direct, Black Sheep, Kemps, I literally have a massive folder in my bookmarks list of all my knitting shop websites, if you want a copy of it then drop me an email and I will attach it for you!

  16. Hi there … (:

I just stumbled over your blog and really love it – especially when I saw, that you’re crocheting too! =D I’m new to this whole blog world, maybe you want to have a look at mine … Lovely greetings from Austria! ***

  17. I have been really inspired by your blog, as I’m sure many people have been. The blog I’m recommending is my friend Marcus Estvanko’s, I hope you find it interesting. It’s obviously a blog wrapped around fashion but I find it inspirations in it for my knitting.
