Miles of Ribbing

A_Knitted_Waistcoat_back_WIP

I know a lot of knitters hate working 1×1 ribbing, but I just love it. I find the back-and-forth rhythm of switching between knits and purls to be really pleasant, and the neatly organized columns of stitches allow me to speed through it without having to keep a close eye on my work. I’ve been enjoying working on my vintage vest, and I’m amazed at how far along I’ve gotten despite mostly only working on it in little bits and pieces, like when I’m on the bus.

  1. My biggest beef with ribbing is that mine always looks super sloppy 🙁 I wind up with something that looks like really loose and uneven stockinette on one side, and I don’t even know how to describe the back. I’ve tried many things to make my ribbing more defined to no avail.

  2. I find ribbing relaxing and 1×1 is my favourite.

  3. It looks so good! I enjoy 1×1 ribbing also. So therapeutic!

  4. I love it too! I always figure people making my patterns are silently cursing me for using it so much, but it’s just so much prettier than the wider ones, in my eyes.

  5. Looks good 🙂 I’m more of a 2+2 person. My mom made a really nice skirt that’s only in ribbing (4+4, 3+3, 2+2 and then 1+1 at the top), it’s awesome!
