The Penelope KAL

Penelope_KAL_Oct_1st

Fall is almost here, and that means the Fall Untangling Knots KAL is right around the corner! This year we’re knitting Penelope, a full-length cardigan with sweet, simple, stranded-colorwork scallops. The KAL starts on October 1st, so you can get your yarn and check your gauge, and then you’ll have until November 25th to finish your sweater. KAL chit chat will be hosted in the Untangling Knots group as usual, but you can also connect with other knitters on social media using the #PENELOPEKAL15 hashtag

Penelope is knit from the top down with seamless, short-row, set-in sleeves. There are only two rows of stranded colorwork on the back and left and right fronts, so it’s very approachable if you’re new to stranded colorwork, and this KAL would be a great opportunity to give your first sweater a go. If you’re a more experienced knitter, this is the perfect relaxing project for curling up on the couch with while watching a cozy mystery show.

The sweater is designed to fit with some negative ease through the bust and positive ease through the waist. Its waist and hip shaping make it fitted but not too snug across the hips, so the cardigan looks great both buttoned and unbuttoned. The pattern comes in seven sizes ranging from a 30-in finished bust to a 54-in finished bust.

Penelope can be found on Ravelry for $6.75, but until October 1st when the KAL starts, you can get it for 20% off when you use the coupon code PENELOPEKAL15 at checkout. I hope to see you over in the Untangling Knots group in the KAL thread, and I can’t wait to hear all of the color combinations that are being planned.

  1. It’s so pretty, Andi! Congrats on making this design work out the way you wanted it to! I remember the first version and thought, wow, that’s pretty…and then you unraveled it, lol. I may knit along, but need to see where I’m at on October 1 with other projects. Again, congrats!

    1. I hope you join us!
