A Hat For Me

gyhat01

I’ve sort of banned myself from casting on a new sweater for myself. I’ve got this pink yarn hanging around taunting me, but I have two secret knits that I need to pay more attention to so I told myself I could only work on accessories for my social knitting. Recently I’ve been working on the hat I was planning on making using the yarn I bought myself for my birthday. It’s coming along quite nicely.

What are you working on? Do you have any knitting plans for January?

Yup, it’s hat time for me, too! For some reason, I only have TWO hats for me. Totally inappropriate, and needs augmentation.

It sounds like you need some! I have quite a few hats, but almost all of them are from when I knit whatever I felt like without considering if the project goes with my wardrobe or is something I’d wear.

  2. Hello Andi,
The link to this pink yarn doesn’t work, I believe.
I can’t wait to see your secret projects!
I’ve got plenty to do on my list for this january.
First I told myself that it would be great to finish all those languishing WIPs laying around my apartment!
Right now I’m working on a pair of Fireweeds socks as a staying at home project and I’ll be carrying my just begun Iz cowl everywhere for social/transit knitting. Then I’ll have to finish my Aubépine tunic that is also just begun. I also have a garment pattern to edit. I’ve been procrastinating over this for months, now time to beat it! Finally, I need to sketch and swatch for my next designs.

Oops! The link is fixed now. Thanks for letting me know.

You’ve got a long list for January! Good luck fighting the procrastination. I struggle with that, too.

I love knitting hats. Quick and satisfying. :)

Currently I am knitting on a secret design (can’t blog about it), a sweater for me and a hat for my husband. Whew!

Secret knits can be challenging when you’re used to blogging about all of your projects. I always miss being able to talk about what I’m working on.

Well, whenever my super nice Irish yarn finally gets here, I plan on working on the Portulaca cardigan with Carol Feller’s Craftsy class, Celtic Cables. I’ve never done cables before and the video lessons are mucho helpful. I can’t wait to actually get to cast on!

    • Andi says:

I love the look of cables. I still have a hard time keeping track of where I am when I knit them, but they’re pretty simple to work once you get the basic concept down!

Oh the goals for January! I think I’m going to start a new tradition for my kiddos – birthday sweaters! I’m close to being done with my son’s, which is good, since I a) cast on this week for it and b) his birthday is next Saturday! I’m over halfway done on the body; a worsted weight yarn on size 8 needles makes for fast knitting when it’s a child’s size. I also still have to finish a sweater for me and I have a hat as well that I really want to finish. I have 2 hats that I’ve knit – both skull cap style, and I just don’t wear them much. I’m hoping a slouchy beret will be worn more.

  6. I love this hat! I’ve been working on a darn shrug for like 2 weeks. Should have taken me about two days, but I’m so busy!!! Love the neutral color of this project!

Love the new hat-in-progress! Hoping to finish up a second UFO in the next few weeks!
